When I add a Subdivision Surface modifier during my modeling/sculpting in Blender 3.1. Blender freezes for 1 second and closes. This occurs when I click on the button that add this modifier.

How can I solve this problem?

One issue might that be your system specifications are not enough to handle the process. Try downloading a lower version of blender that is compatible with your system. By the way, what are your laptop specifications?

Go to Edit > Preferences > Viewport then under Subdivision tab uncheck GPU Subdivision.
