I'm not very tech savy, but I want to get into modeling. So I watched some tutorials, and finally decided to get some addons. I downloaded one, but couldn't find it until I extracted it (which I should not have done). Now I can't find the file, the only program for files I have is file explorer (any recommendations?) so what I could do was limited. Now the addon won't show. Images below show my file explorer page (what should i do next?), and what I get when I extract it.

  • $\begingroup$ How did you install the addon? Did you use the Install from file option? Also looking at your screenshot the testing addons are not enabled for display. So, if your addon is under that category it will not be displayed. $\endgroup$

To install this add-on you don't need to unzip the folder.

Go to the Add-ons tab in user preferences and navigate to your add-on zip location and double click on it, then once it is installed make sure to tick the checkbox to activate it.

Steps:

  1. Download Zip Folder enter image description here
  2. Go to File -> User Preferences enter image description here
  3. Then choose install from file enter image description here
  4. Navigate to the downloaded add-on zip or simple copy the path of the zip folder and paste it in the path text box as shown below then select the zip folder and click on the install from file button 5. Enable the add-on by checking the checkbox enter image description here enter image description here
  5. Select your Object then in the Tools Menu you will find a new tab called Sculpt click on itenter image description here

sometimes blender will break the files of addon in addon folder. so you can not see it on blender addon list.

What you only need to do is install them manually. Just unzip your addon make sure all the addon file in one folder copy this folder into this folder C:\Users{user name}\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.81\scripts\addons\

restart your blender and then you can see your addon on the list.

The way to activate an Add-on is by checking the box located on the left of the add-on name. Then you can close the user preferences window.

If you want the add-on to be enabled permanently then enable it and press "Save User Settings". enter image description here

SOLUTION---------------------------------------------------------------------

IF you Go to Roaming/blender foundation/blender/2.xx/scripts/addons ,you will find your installed addons on that version

If some addons arent showing up, Then go to addons folder and modify somethings of that specific addon's file

  1. make sure that if you open your specific addon's folder, you should directly reach to .py files. i mean , there should not be any extra folders between that path

  2. make sure that there aren't any dots(.), and some symbols like that

THIS WORKS Mostly

  • $\begingroup$ Worth noting the folder mentioned is for windows. If you go to the python console and type in the command bpy.utils.script_paths("addons") it will display a list of folders where blender looks for addons. One will be your user folder, where you install your custom addons, one will be the addons folder that is distributed with blender. $\endgroup$
