How do you create this geometry? (Themodel the folding edge of the backrest)?

I've been trying to figure this out for days now! How on earth do you create the edges to fold around like that? I wanna create this exact same backrest piece as a modelling challenge for myself, but this might have been too advanced. I don't wanna give up though!
