In allany mode, if you want to switch between wireframe and solid it'suse zZ.

If you want to go further you You can do Shift+z for switching between rendered and solid andalso use Alt+zZ for switching between textured and solidtoggling x-ray.

Of courseAlternatively, you can do that inuse the viewport shading menuheader. 

Take a look at the manualmanual.
