Now, by adding a Raycast node, the whole thing is non-desctructive. I have added a number of nodes to the example file to make it more like the OP's pattern and more editable.

Nov 26 at 22:51 comment added common_goldfish I found using this lattice method reduced distortion from the first two methods I tried, but it may still be not mathematical enough. I think it can be done, with only the material though, I will leave it to others to answer.

However, since the pattern on this pot is different, there are some hexagons with line borders and others that are just dots. That's why I was trying to use a procedural material, but I don’t know how to make the hexagons appear one by one in a random way. Additionally, as shown in the example by @common_goldfish , when applied to a curved surface, the hexagons get distorted.
