Nov 3, 2017 at 20:05 comment added Swoogan On Ubuntu, installing nvidia-cuda-toolkit solved the problem. I did not need to install nvidia-modprobe.

May 28, 2015 at 19:48 comment added Anson Savage @archmagus I did what you said, but it didn't seem to make a difference for that particular issue. I'm just happy I can run it as root and get GPU rendering to work.

May 20, 2015 at 5:13 comment added amziraro @AnsonSavage That is strange... are you using xorg-edgers? in which case you would have no nvidia-modprobe package. Perhaps nvidia-modprobe is not in the Mint17 repo?
