Larry Gritz

Software Architect, Sony Pictures Imageworks.

I am the designer and primary implementor of Open Shading Language.

Professional software engineer and researcher for 25 years, specializing in computer graphics for animation and visual effects. I mainly develop in C++ on Unix variants (Linux and OS X), but occasionally use Windows, Python, Perl, shell scripts, as well as programmable extension languages for a variety of packages.

Software I am known for having worked on: Open Shading Language (OSL), OpenImageIO, Sony Pictures Imageworks' Arnold renderer, NVIDIA's Gelato renderer, Exluna Entropy, Pixar's PhotoRealistic RenderMan, Blue Moon Rendering Tools (BMRT). I've also been a lighting and shading/lookdev technical director on films.
