UV Edit Material Warp
I could not find anyone who had a solution and no one one here had a solution for me, thankfully I figured out the problem myself by looking at can models that didn't have the same problem.

UV Stretching unfounded
If you open the Show Overlays dropdown you will see about halfway down an area marked UV Stretch.
You can turn it on or off with the checkbox:

Is there an addon to automatically stacking similar (not necessarily the exactly the same) UV islands?
Yes, such a free add-on exists, and it doesn't break UV.
