The Grease Pencil tools allow Blender users to draw lines inside of the 3D viewport. Possible uses for the resulting sketches include scene and animation planning as well as in-scene descriptions. They can be converted to curve objects and organised in layers.

The Grease Pencil is a particular type of Blender object that allows you to draw in the 3D space. It can be used to make traditional 2D animation, cut-out animation, motion graphics or used as storyboard tool among other things.

The object acts as a container of strokes that you can create using drawing tools in Draw Mode. More detailed editing of the strokes is done in Edit Mode, and Sculpt Mode. To obtain best results with Grease Pencil is highly recommended to use a Graphics Tablet.
