I'm very new to blender so it is probably an easy fix I couldn't find. I made a model in blender gave it an armature and two animations: Walk and Idle. I saved the .blend file directly into my unity assets folder. The animation for walking looks perfect in blender however when I test it in unity it is not right at all. The model moves but in none of the right ways. I tried applying the location rotation and scale and making sure the origin of the model and armature were centered, but none of these solutions worked. Am I missing something?

yes, please upload pictures. It seems to me that you're not importing it correctly. What kind of rig are you using, and how exactly are you animating it? importing a custom rig as a humanoid usually ends up in this kind of errors, a solution would be to use a mecanim rig and animations, or use legacy animations. you could also switch to mocap, which usually looks really good, and these animations are easy to find.
