I'm recently learning about USD and it seems like a simple process to include color data with a mesh but I'm not seeing anything included in blender after import. I'm using this page https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/files/import_export/usd.html#import-options to base my understanding that there is support for bringing in color attributes. Is there something wrong with my .usda file?

#usda 1.0

  • $\begingroup$ at this point I'm realizing that the right way to be doing things is with the UsdGeomPoints point cloud type which seems to render in usdview, but not in Blender. Also when I export a particle system from the latest experimental USD branch I see that it's using UsdGeomPointInstancer, and has all kinds of great data in it, but the importer doesn't succeed at bringing it back in. $\endgroup$
