I am working on a project involving 3D models of Berlin city. I have multiple tiles of 3D mesh models in OBJ format. My Blender starts to get slower and laggier as I import more OBJ files and when I render at last it takes a long time and crashes (Same problem with Eevee and Cycles). Can anyone help me explain what exactly is the bottleneck here? Is it my RAM or CPU/GPU or something else and is there a possible solution to this besides a hardware upgrade?

  • $\begingroup$ There are many postings if you just search for the word "slow" in blender stackexchange. It does seem that you have a large amount of data. While editing you can turn off the viewport display of some object to help response time. But for rendering -- you should monitor your RAM memory to decide what to do. $\endgroup$
