Following a tutorial by Crossbow productions, on lightsaber VFX with blender, I use the software to create a pretty decent saber effect. Recently, I have wanted to use HDR on my new iPhone 13 Pro, and create my fan-films with HDR. What is the best way to go about this? Heres what I've done so far:

  • Start with my .MOV
  • Use cloudconvert to convert it to a .mp4 (there are some problems with .MOV and blender)
  • Import my HDR .mp4 footage into blender

At this point, Blender only recognizes it as SDR. I know my .mp4 converted footage is HDR because an HDR badge shows up on quicktime player.

Can someone please guide me as to how I can get blender to recognize my HDR footage.

Here are my specs:

  • Macbook Air 2019 (Display is EDR, extended dynamic range)
  • sonnet eGPU 5500xt
  • Planar 1080p SDR display (I use a both this one and the laptop display side by side for this type of work
