I'm a relatively new Blender user. I've checked out other answers to similar questions regarding rigid body physics and the follow path constraint, but none of the answers seem to work for me.

I am working on a scene in which a crate filled with some 80 or so christmas ornaments is following a nurbs path. The blend file (166mb)is here xmas_104b. At a point in the middle of the path, I want the crate, the passive object, to rotate upside down, and the ornaments, the active objects, should fall out of the crate.

I have been successful in doing the physics simulation of the ornaments dropping from the motionless crate, as seen in the video below.

I have also been able to animate the empty crate along my nurbs path, as you can see in this video.

I'm stuck, however, on combining these two actions. I've tried various attempts at parenting, and/or baking the physics simulation to key frames, key framing the "Dynamic" check box within the rigid body panel, but have had no success. Thanks in advance for any insights you can provide.

    $\begingroup$ i would simply fake that. So animate your crate along the path until your "target point". Then hide it and show your hidden physics crate and animate the falling. Ready. $\endgroup$
