At our studio the art team is using Blender and I am trying to figure out a way to specify a shared folder as a source for scripts/addons so that everyone has access to the same tools.

I was able to get a network directory to be read by setting the Scripts path to the dir I wanted in Preferences -> File Paths. However I had to do this manually, and having to go around to all the artists computers and setting this would be a little cumbersome.

I would like to do this using an Environment variable or perhaps adding the directory using Python at startup using a script. But I haven't been able to find a way to set that path.

I found this post that mentioned certain variables can be set, Blender Environment Variables, however when I tried to set BLENDER_USER_SCRIPTS, the addon I was testing did not show up in Preferences -> Add-ons.

Does anyone know how this be accomplished?
