Still very new to Blender. Enjoying it a lot so far.

But now I've hit a wall...

I am trying to have a surface emit one particle per vertex. Then I instance an object across those particles. Now I would like to run a force field with a narrow max distance though the particle grid and bush the particles in reach away. But the particles should return to the vertex position if they're outside of the influence of the force field.

In Maya I would emit particles from a surface, set the initial state and turn off particle creation, run a force field through and make them go back with a goal weight. At least off the top of my head. Unfortunately don't have Maya around anymore.

I would dearly appreciate any pointer to how this could be done in Blender. Maybe geometry nodes is the answer? But so far my attempts in that direction have been unsucesfull as well.

Thanks!
