Is it possible to modify the Text Editor > Templates > Operator Export File in order to save the selected object in the current Blender session via popup filebrowser to a new .blend file? I tried to substitue things like file extensions but when I run the script it will export a .blend file that is not recognized by Blender when I open it.

Error: File format is not supported in file 'C:\Users\XXXXXX\Desktop\export object test.blend'
... opened default scene instead; saving will write to: C:\Users\XXXXXXX\Desktop\export object test.blend

I guess there's more to it than simply changing extensions. So, how can I achieve this?
