I'm total Blender newbie, trying to get Blender 2.91.0 to run on my Lenovo Thinkpad E520 Edge (bought at the end of 2012). I just made clean install of Windows 10 (Home 64 bit) after replacing Lenovo's original Toshiba HDD with brand new Crucial MX500 500Gb SSD.

Other hardware specs of my computer:

Intel Core i5 2450M @ 2.50GHz Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology

4,00GB Single-Channel DDR3 (9-9-9-24)

Generic PnP Monitor (1366x768@60Hz) Intel HD Graphics 3000 (Lenovo) 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series (Lenovo) CrossFire Disabled

465GB Crucial CT500MX500SSD1 (SATA (SSD))

Optical Drives

After double clicking Blender icon on Windows desktop, Blender shows this information and stops:

Error : EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION Address : 0x000000006E7F241B Module : atio6axx.dll Thread : 00001744 Writing: C:\Users*XXXX*\AppData\Local\Temp\blender.crash.txt

I have installed Lenovo System Update -software, but it found hardly any drivers to update. Is my computer totally outdated to run latest Blender even for simple modeling tasks? If I understand right my Lenovo is equipped with Intel HD Graphics 3000 AND ATI AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M series GPUs. On Lenovo forums I found info that Lenovo has not updated their hybrid drivers for these GPUs for years. How ever Speccy-software tells that Radeon GPU should support OpenGL 4.2.

I have not installed Python, if that has something to do with my startup problem.

Thanks for your advice.

$\begingroup$ I guess that's no Blender problem but more a hardware problem. My old laptop won't open 2.91 either, I have to stick to 2.90 - but maybe someone knows some trick to make it work. $\endgroup$ – Gordon Brinkmann Dec 21 '20 at 10:51
