I am trying to use a data modifier on a foliage asset to make the "leaves" face uniformly in a spherical shape. I surround the leaves in a uv sphere and then select the leaves. create a data transfer modifier, select corner face data, select my sphere as the source, click custom normals and apply. yet this does not seem to do anything.. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

As you can see in the second picture, there are dark spots on the top of the mesh where the leaves normals would normally face the "wrong" way. Telling me the modifier did not move the normal to put up and out like the sphere would.

EDIT:

One step "closer" but not a valid final result, the issue seems to be the 2 sided nature of the leaves. With backside culling disabled, i achieve the desired lighting result, but I need to keep 2 sided.. is there a way to do this??
