I am making a character to use in Unreal Engine. I have been able to rig the character body as a test, and now I would like to proceed and do a few outfit variations of such character. I plan to then retarget the animation as I've seen on some tutorials.

What I struggle to understand is how should I approach the rigging when multiple meshes (in this case the garments) have to be moved and deformed together and how to export them. Whenever I tried to export multiple meshes as a single .fbx, in Unreal they are imported as individual meshes, so I wonder how this will work with characters.

I don't think that selecting all meshes and joining them is an option, as this messes up all my textures. What is the right way to go?
