(Blender 2.82) I'm trying to use the Texture Coordinate node in the Material editor to change the colour of a cube based on the angle between its position vector and another fixed vector. I'm following the outline given in this answer. The cube colour seems to be changing as expected, but if I copy the same node setup into the World node tree and link it to the World Output, the background colour differs from that of the cube.

To illustrate: enter image description here

Why is this happening? I expect the background to match the cube since the inputs are depending on the difference of two vectors (and are thus independent of the origin). Am I using the Texture Coordinate node incorrectly? If so, is there any other way to achieve the effect (the same angle-dependence for the background colour) I'm looking for?
