So, like most of you, I’ve been seeing a lot of Facebook’s new 3D Photos feature sprouting up across my newsfeed—it’s a bit different than the typical 360/panoramic ones. From my research, it looks like a proprietary AI algorithm that does it’s best to generate foreground/background data and (perhaps) can only be accomplished via Facebook.

I’m wondering, is there a file type it would recognize and post as 3D in this new format? Is there a program we could use to make these? Could it all be done in Blender? I want to upload a non-algorithm 3D photo but in this brand new format. I think the slight 3D look without being full 360 is pretty cool, and I’d like to jump on this while it’s new and exciting.

Any guidance would be awesome, have a great day everyone!

John
