I want to make an animation of futuristic buildings rising from the middle of a desert. I have a plane with my procedural sand dunes texture and color, but I also want to have sand shooting up from the ground and/sand pouring off the buildings. I'm new to compositing and want to know if I need to do this with particles in the scene or if that is something I will need to composite in. I'm using Blender 2.8.

If I need to composite it where can I find free or cheap sand or dust that I could use? Or would it be better for me to render a transparent sand simulation and use that?

  • $\begingroup$ Hi, welcome. I would start understanding how particles work in Blender, and try to master that quite well. $\endgroup$ – m.ardito May 22 at 12:14
