I am looking for a video editor that can read and write source files in text format. This would let me version-control the edits, and keep the heavy movie files separate from the lightweight edit decision list, which I can share. This thread on Software Recs suggested AviSynth, which only works for Windows. Blender works on macOS and also does frameserving.

Can Blender work with text files as a source for video editing?
