I need an advice on how to export .fbx file from blender 2.8 with not only material IDs but with color of the materials contained in the exported file.

I created a simple model in blender and I want to export it to .fbx file and then color it in Substance Painter.

The model has 4 different materials to identify different parts of the mesh. In Substance Painter those would represent different texture sets and color of the materials would be used to generate ID map for later use.

The problem is when I export the .fbx file I get the necessary materials linked to the mesh in .fbx but no color information is associated with them.

  • $\begingroup$ It would be much easier if you bake the ID map in Blender, then you can use it also as a color mask in SBP (with only one material) so you don't have to merge the textures in a 3rd program. $\endgroup$ – FFeller Nov 16 '19 at 19:46
