Total noob question here that may be more philosophical than I intend: but why do all the transform hotkeys (for Move/Scale/etc) by default require Shift+Spacebar+Letter? Seems crazy complicated for such common commands. I'm used to Modo, Rhino and a bit of C4D where these operations are accessed with a single-letter keystroke (by default shortcuts).

Am I overlooking the obvious ergonomics of Blender's transform hotkeys?

$\begingroup$ Those are hotkeys for transform gizmos. You can use direct transforms with G R or S. There is also a toggle in the keymap to use operators or gizmos $\endgroup$ – Duarte Farrajota Ramos Aug 25 at 23:18
