I wonder why unity can load for instance 100 000 objects ( prefabs) and handle them inside the viewport quite well, while blender struggles to even move just 10 000.

Would it be easier for Eevee if those object would be collection instances? And, can we consider a collection instance the same thing a prefab is in Unity?

  • $\begingroup$ Yes, it would be easier. In many ways, a collection instance is similar to a unity prefab ; but I don't know enough about Unity to answer precisely. If you struggle to find documentation about "collection instance", search for "group instance" or "dupli group" (that's the old 2.7x name, but basically the same thing) $\endgroup$ – thibsert Aug 14 at 10:45
