my question is why is there no longer a Autodesk 3DS import/ Export add-on, like older versions of Blender used to have, I have checked the add-ons list and there is no longer a listed option for 3DS Files.?

Yet when I checked an older version like 2.76b I found it still had the 3ds option to import and export, but the new 2.80 no longer lists this option and checking the add-ons list shows its not available in the list.

I find it strange why this format had been removed, from being supported, when its still a good bridging import format between other programs, especially if you have many files in 3ds format.

$\begingroup$ The 3Ds format importer/exporter is no longer part of the official add-ons. People in the community are porting the add-ons to 2.8 developer.blender.org/T66329 $\endgroup$ – Robert Gützkow Aug 10 '19 at 16:24
