Ok Ive read Blender 2.8 View Layers - "Exclude" feature and related tutorials, but I'm trying to exclude a reflection plane and ground plane from a render layer. They are in their own collection, and I'm trying to disable them from the main View Layer.

Ive gone into render layers and clicked exclude for their collection. When I render and look at View Layer, though, the ground/reflection planes are still there.

Why is this? Does exclusion not work with the default View Layer?
