I made a character animation with a cloth simulation in Blender 2.79. Among others there is a copy rotation constraint on the pelvis bone that copies from upperleg01. I need that to achieve a realistic deformation of the pelvis.

It works in the viewport and renders out as expected.

Now I opened exactly the same file without any modifications in Blender 2.80 RC1. Again everything is fine in the viewport. But in the final render there are two observations:

final render Blender 2.80

  1. The animation plays up, the body is split in half with the lower part staying behind. If you look closely at the viewport recording, you can also see some sort of glitch in the last frame of the walking cycle. I am sure that this is related to the copy rotation constraint, since when I delete it (just disabling doesn't help) it renders out ok.

  2. The cloth simulation doesn't run at all, the cloth just sits there. I can get around this issue by baking the simulation / not deleting the cache, but I think it must be possible to run the simulation during final render as in 2.79.

The following link contains:

  • the Blender 2.79 file
  • a viewport recording in Blender 2.79
  • the final render video from Blender 2.79
  • a viewport recording in Blender 2.80
  • the final render video from Blender 2.80

Thank you for your help.

  • $\begingroup$ I have the same problem, Copy Location constraint does not work in 2.8. In my case it does not work even in the viewport. Did you solve this thing somehow? $\endgroup$ – mikez Aug 13 '19 at 16:34
