In previous versions of Blender, it was possible to add an "Environment Map" texture to a cube or sphere to get a projection of a scene from the point of view of said cube or sphere. This was a great solution for quickly creating and saving out sky map textures that you could use in a game engine. You can see an example of this workflow here: https://www.katsbits.com/tutorials/blender/render-skybox.php

However, it appears that the ability to create an environment map texture is gone. My question is whether or not there is an alternative solution for baking a projection in a similar way using Blender 2.8 (via cycles).

Thanks!
