Is there a way to clone-mirror parts of an existing image along an axis? Example picture for clarity:

enter image description here

The mesh is symmetrical, and the texture is taken from a real image and fitted to one half of the body.

Is there a way to mirror the fitted half of the body across the X axis to get a symmetrically-painted texture without needing to delete half of the body and mirroring the fitted half, thereby winding up with the UVs of both halves in the same spot ("enforcing" symmetry)?

Purpose: I'd like to set up base bodies for animals using real-life pictures, and then be able to paint asymmetrical coat patterns on top of the base.
