I'm pretty new to Blender and I would like some advice.

I have a CAD model of a cockpit but it's waaay too detailed to be inserted into a flight simulator. So I want to downgrade the model a bit in terms of amount of faces. Do you guys suggest to insert the 3d model of the cockpit into blender as a reference and start modeling on top of it? Or is there a function where it automatically reduces the # of faces while minimally affecting the shape?

Thanks!

$\begingroup$ I'd suggest the first option. Neither Blender nor any other 3D modelling software has an automatic function to reduce polygons in a way that you still get a decent model in the end. $\endgroup$ – metaphor_set Jun 20 at 21:41
