I am running Blender 2.8 (May 29th Release, Windows 7, 64 bit) and it seems most of the basic features for the Video Editor do not work as intended.

From the default setup on this build, sound does not work in any capacity for the Video Editor. This means the default "AV-Sync" prevents you from playing the clip (as no sound exists, it stops the animation immediately upon "Play") It doesn't matter if it is a Clip (MP4) or a sound file (MP3) neither will have any sound. There is nothing wrong with these files.

There are several other things which do not work (Cannot add keyframes, cannot move multiple clips at once, clips "stick" to mouse upon move) which don't seem to have any fix.

  • Is there any reason why a sound file would not play beyond being muted?
  • Is there a workaround to have sound play in the Video Editor?

  • If this is a known issue, should I just wait until release?
