I got the following problem: I appended some of my models into a new project. A lot of the materials use the same dirt or moss textures, but blender loads the textures for each material seperatly. So I got some of the maps 5 times (normals, gloss, spec....). I think that makes the render slower and the texture management more difficult. Can I somehow make blender notice the same name and path of the textures and combine them? is there an add-on maybe?

  • $\begingroup$ if you can not use one of your materials for all your objects because their unwrap won't match, then I don't see what you could do what you want, you could merge all your 5 image textures in one single texture but it will 5 times bigger than one, so it won't save you time. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe share your file with the textures: blend-exchange.giantcowfilms.com $\endgroup$ – moonboots Mar 5 at 8:15
