I have an object that I want to drop onto a flat plane that contains other objects, may or may not collide with other objects depending on where it's being dropped.

I can easily achieve this by setting active rigidbody properties and letting the objects fall, however they accelerate as they fall according to the gravity that I have set.

I would like them to fall at a constant (initial?) velocity, or even accelerate up to a constant velocity then remain at that constant velocity.

What's the easiest way to achieve this? I am very new to blender, I've come across a couple ideas (below), but would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction.

  • setting location keyframes (somehow keeping the end velocity after the last keyframe is reached?
  • damping the translation?
  • I've heard setting keyframes for the animated and dynamic systems but don't quite understand this?

PS - I'm trying to script this instead of doing it manually

Thanks!!!!
