I've animated a 3D model and exported it with the default collada exporter. However, I've found out that this exporter has renamed the bone names - the bone names in the exported .dae file are not the same as the bone names in blender.

For example, I've created a bone with the name UpperArm.L. After inspecting the exported collada file, this bone was renamed to Upper Arm.L. Note that a spacebar character has been added in between! Just for further information, this renamed bone is found in the visual_scenes library. This is the line with the renamed bone: <node id="Upper_Arm_L" name="Upper Arm.L" sid="Upper_Arm_L" type="JOINT">.

How to prevent the default collada exporter in Blender from customly renaming bone names?

  • $\begingroup$ Naming it upperarml would work. I googled a bit and it seems bug is known $\endgroup$ – WhatAMesh Aug 10 '18 at 20:17
