I'm trying to make a Keep Out sign, so i made the wooden material with the appropriate texture and I wanted to add the writing using another texture with a transparent background. The problem is that when I do that the second texture ends up on all the other faces of the model too, even though I did another unwrap with only the face I want the writing on, is there something I'm forgetting? I'm including also a screenshot of the nodes I made. The three wooden planks are separated object, my plan was to put a part of the writing on each plank and then align them moving the UV on the UV editor.

EDIT: the links provided by Mr Zak did solve my problem so I want to thank him for his help.

  • $\begingroup$ Why did you do "another unwrap with only the face I want the writing on" if you are going to use alpha channel of the image with writing? (btw check if it's correct) At this stage preview how writing sign is mapped, then work with overlaing materials. $\endgroup$ – Mr Zak Feb 9 '18 at 15:46
  • $\begingroup$ I did that because I'm going on by attempts and seeing how it turns out, I'm going to follow your suggestion, I also tried to move the other parts of the map but of courseis tiled so it didn't work. $\endgroup$ – Nobinberg Feb 9 '18 at 15:58
  • $\begingroup$ To put that sign on only one side of the object UV map should be unique for both sides, i.e. not overlapping (or faces assigned to different materials).
