Sep 25, 2017 at 0:00 comment added Secrop I'll elaborate this answer later, but here's a solution I found while needing caustics, it's for refractions, but it works as well with reflections as soon you change the 'caustic' object material to glossy. blenderartists.org/forum/…
Sep 24, 2017 at 23:45 comment added Secrop Is the source ligth just a spot? Not a area light or multiple point illumination? If yes, there's a way!

Sep 23, 2017 at 8:39 comment added Leo Ervin I know nothing about OSL but if you're thinking of render times, then its not an issue, go ahead and post an answer with that method if you like.
Sep 23, 2017 at 8:26 comment added Rich Sedman Might be able to hack a solution using OSL on the surface (2) to trace paths towards the mirror and reflect them to the projector, summing over all valid paths. I don’t know how efficient (or not) it will be as it would need to trace many hundreds of rays off each surface point to resolve the whole projection but it should be quicker than relying on caustics.

Sep 20, 2017 at 21:53 comment added user1853 The reflections are not going to work unless you use a bidirectional path tracing engine like Luxrender. See: reflecting direct light on glossy surface in Cycles and How to create and animate the water reflection (Caustics) on an object?
Sep 20, 2017 at 18:31 comment added Duarte Farrajota Ramos See my answer here for the projection part blender.stackexchange.com/questions/57013/… Not sure how you can achieve the reflections though, Cycles is not very good at caustics. Also curious to see if anybody can come up with a solution
