Jul 26, 2023 at 18:06 | comment | added | sixzis | Sorry perhaps I wasn't completely clear. The imported data contains trees scattered about a scene as individual objects with a shared mesh. Rather than them be individual objects, I wanted them to be collection instances instead. That way I can add empties and additional meshes to each tree without needing to edit each object individually - I can just edit the master collection. I'm quite new to blender so my terminology might not be completely correct! Anyway, I have figured out a script for this now and posted it below.

Jul 26, 2023 at 17:06 | comment | added | Martynas Žiemys | So what exactly do you want to do? What do you have and where do you want to put it and how do you have the unique objects and how do you have their positions and other transforms? Could edit the question and explain it a clear manner? Blender part is easy, it's understanding what you want that's difficult here... Your blend file contains trees. So do you want to scatter them in your scene? How?
