Oct 4, 2022 at 21:33 | comment | added | Mark_72 | Thanks for all your help. Not used View Layers before. I am working on adding an object to be orbiting the earth and I can see how to add it to the scene.

Oct 2, 2022 at 18:20 | comment | added | Mark_72 | the plane is behind the Earth and the camera is in front of the Earth.
Oct 2, 2022 at 9:44 | comment | added | SlickRed | In that case just move the plane to behind the earth. Select the plane and press 7 on Numpad to go into top view, then position the plane on the opposite side of the earth to the camera.
Oct 2, 2022 at 9:37 | comment | added | Mark_72 | I think I can see the problem. You had hidden the plane I could see the atmosphere. But when I done a render with the plane there, but I had moved the camera, some of the atmosphere is visible but the bit the plane is not. Also I did not notice the Colour space change when adding the smaller textures.

Oct 1, 2022 at 18:48 | comment | added | SlickRed | It's difficult to help without your file. You have two options. You could resize the textures so they are not as large. Open them in an image editor (i.e. MS Paint/GIMP) and scale the image textures to 25%. Save the smaller images and use them in your .blend project. That should result in a small .blend file. Alternatively, upload the 76MB file to DROPBOX instead of blend-exchange, and share that link
Oct 1, 2022 at 18:18 | comment | added | Mark_72 | Can anyone advise on this compositing issue?
Sep 27, 2022 at 18:28 | comment | added | Mark_72 | Stripping all but one texture for the surface gets the file down to 76,406kb. Just too big for the exchange (original file is 111,566kb). with no textures its 937kb. is the no texture version ok for you?

Sep 26, 2022 at 19:36 | comment | added | Mark_72 | how do you share a blender file?
Sep 26, 2022 at 18:48 | comment | added | SlickRed | Could you please share your .blend and I'll take a look? Please make sure to pack the textures (File > External Data > Pack Resources) before saving and sharing.
Sep 26, 2022 at 18:34 | comment | added | Mark_72 | I made the changes you suggested. The edge of the earth is still has a hard edge.
