On Stack Exchange, we believe the core moderators should come from the community, and be elected by the community itself through popular vote. We hold regular elections to determine who these community moderators will be.

Community moderators are accorded the highest level of privilege on our community, and should themselves be exemplars of positive behavior and leaders within the community.

Our general criteria for moderators is as follows:

  • patient and fair
  • leads by example
  • shows respect for their fellow community members in their actions and words
  • open to some light but firm moderation to keep the community on track and resolve (hopefully) uncommon disputes and exceptions

Every election has three phases:

  1. Nomination
  2. Primary
  3. Election

Please participate in the moderator elections by voting, and perhaps even by nominating yourself to be a community moderator!

If you are curious to see your candidate score there is a SEDE query that can show you before you nominate yourself.

This community has taught me a great deal, and so I would love the opportunity to give back.

I am in agreement with what this site is about, and want to do more to help :)

I have been a constantly learning Blender user for roughly 6 years (about 2.70ish), and much of that knowledge has come from the great answers posted here. Check out this user :)

I would be very happy to be able to give back to the community by becoming a moderator here on BSE.

My answers to the questionnaire

I would like to be a moderator for Blender's StackExchange to support our amazing current moderators Duarte Farrajota Ramos, gandalf3 and iKlsR. My motivation is to help people and ensure that this community remains a friendly and welcoming place for everyone with questions about Blender. I'm joining late, because my favorite candidate Jachym Michael withdrew his nomination.

Reasons why I think, I'd make a good moderator:

  • Moderator on Blender's official bug tracker since November 26, 2019
  • Blender developer with commit access since April 1, 2020
  • Long-time Blender user since 2.49
  • Answered 575 questions on Blender's StackExchange
  • Raised 331 helpful flags
  • Voted 502 times, 389 upvotes

Reasons why I think, I wouldn't make a good moderator:

  • Currently quite involved with my master's thesis, therefore I have limited time to spend
  • Less involved in review than other members

I have been using BSE for almost a year now and have been wanting to help as much as I can behind the scenes!

I am nominating myself as a candidate for moderator as of 2020 because I want this site to improve.

I know that we already have two great moderators, and as the legendary David has left, we need a third. I have already done much to help improve the site, and I feel I should be doing more.

I think that having a "lower" reputation does not mean that I should not be considered for moderator. Even if I do not win this time, I will still try my hardest to make this site a better place for Blender users!

Thank you for considering me as moderator, and don't forget to upvote my questionnaire answers here! Only if you really want to of course :)

I've been a blender user since 2006 and went many miles with it. Currently I teach blender related topics at my university (mainly simulation for our engineers, a little BIM and ArchVis). Eventhough I'm an engineer, my work (apart from teaching) is programming frameworks around Blender. (Both, my bachelors and my masters thesis where about that too.)

While I can't claim to know all there is about blender, I know my fair share around. I enjoy fumbling around with cycles materials (including raytracing virtual objects inside the material) and complex maths as well as with addons. I like sharing tipps and tricks, which is why I moderate two small blender comunities, the larger of which is just shy of 6000 members.

That all said:

If I can be of help, here in this comunity, I'd love to be your moderator.
